A Hollywood man’s effort to recover his stolen motorcycle escalated into a high-speed pursuit and armed confrontation, ultimately leading to the arrest of two suspects in Tamarac.
According to an incident report, on April 15, deputies from the Broward Sheriff’s Office responded to a gas station at 5600 Nob Hill Road after receiving a report of a stolen motorcycle and a man allegedly brandishing a firearm.
The victim, whose motorcycle had been stolen in Hollywood earlier in the month, told deputies he located his 2020 green Kawasaki posted for sale on Facebook Marketplace and arranged a meeting with the seller at the gas station.
The victim, accompanied by a friend, met two men—later identified as Ackel Wallace, 37, of Sunrise, and Javel Walters, 23, of Sunrise. According to the victim, Wallace showed him the motorcycle, which the victim immediately recognized as his. Without confrontation, the victim mounted the bike and rode off in an attempt to retrieve his stolen property.
The BSO report shows that what followed was a chaotic pursuit. Wallace and Walters allegedly jumped into a car and chased the victim northbound on Nob Hill Road, turning east on McNab Road, and into a residential area and golf course. During the chase, the victim said Walters, seated in the passenger seat, pointed a gun with an extended magazine at him.
BSO deputies intercepted the vehicle near Northwest 94th Avenue and Commercial Boulevard and conducted a traffic stop. Wallace and Walters were detained at the scene. Inside the car, deputies found a loaded handgun with one round in the chamber and nine in the magazine.
Further investigation confirmed the motorcycle’s VIN matched the one reported stolen. Wallace, during an interview, admitted to arranging the sale on Facebook using his wife’s account but claimed he had purchased the bike from a friend named “Andre” six months ago. However, he could not provide any documents to support the purchase or describe how the transaction took place.
Walters also admitted to owning the gun but claimed he didn’t know the motorcycle was stolen and said Wallace had driven recklessly during the chase, even striking a trash can.
Both men were positively identified by the victim and witness in separate show-ups and arrested, then were transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
Walters and Wallace are both facing charges for aggravated assault with a firearm and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Wallace faces additional charges of dealing in stolen property.
