The man killed in a single-vehicle crash in Tamarac Sunday has been identified as a 20-year-old city resident.
According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, Mattias Jesus Argeulles drove into a concrete pole on Southgate Boulevard east of University Drive around 9 a.m.
He died from his injuries at the scene, authorities said.
Investigators with BSO’s Traffic Homicide Unit detectives believe Argeulles was driving a 1990 Volvo 740 west on Southgate Boulevard when he lost control on a curve.
Argeulles over-corrected while trying to control the Volvo, causing the vehicle to go into a spin, investigators said.
The Volvo continued to travel west as it slid sideways and, seconds later, struck a concrete utility pole, BSO’s preliminary investigation showed.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, authorities said.
