The City of North Lauderdale is inviting local teenagers to apply to learn more about becoming a firefighter through an exclusive training program.
The City of North Lauderdale will hold an open house for its Fire Explorer program on Saturday, May 27, at 9:30 a.m. at the North Lauderdale Fire Department Training Center at 4001 Bailey Road.
The North Lauderdale Fire Explorer program offers prospective trainees an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of firefighting and paramedics.
The program is designed to provide meaningful career experiences and leadership development opportunities for all its members in their chosen fields of interest.
Among a list of requirements, applicants for the program must be between the ages of 14 to 19 years old and have completed 8th grade, maintain a 2.5 GPA, pass a written and practical test, be able to perform physical activities, and maintain weekly attendance of training exercises about 70%.
